What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by the browser. We also use related storage (such as session data and, for recent search terms on your device, local storage) so the site can remember a short-lived list while you work.
Cookies we use
We use cookies that are required for the site to function. We do not use advertising networks or third-party ad cookies.
- Session cookie: keeps your visit together so enquiry list items, compare selections and form security (CSRF protection) work as you move between pages.
- Enquiry list: remembers the parts you added so you can send one combined enquiry. It is not a shopping cart and does not take payment.
- Compare list: remembers parts you selected for side-by-side specification review.
- Admin session: used only on the staff login area so authorised users stay signed in. It is not set for ordinary catalogue visitors.
Search suggestions may store recent keywords in your browser’s local storage on your device only, so the search box can show terms you typed earlier. That data is not sent to us as a personal profile.
Optional analytics
If we enable a web-analytics tool in site settings (for example Google Analytics), a measurement cookie or similar identifier may be used to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are used, not who you are. We do not run this for advertising remarketing. If analytics is not configured, those cookies are not used.
Why we use them
- To keep the enquiry and compare lists while you browse.
- To protect forms against cross-site request forgery.
- To keep admin users authenticated.
- Optionally, to improve the site using anonymous or aggregated usage statistics.
How long they last
Session cookies normally expire when you close the browser or after a short idle period. Local “recent search” entries remain until you clear site data in the browser. Admin sessions last until you sign out or the session expires.
Your control
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, enquiry list, compare, and form submission may stop working. You can also use your browser’s private or incognito mode, which typically discards session cookies when the window closes.
Third parties
Product images and datasheets may be loaded from our catalogue data provider. Those requests are for displaying the part, not for TEKBOAT advertising. If analytics is enabled, that provider’s own cookie policy will also apply to the measurement cookies they set.
